In a major stride toward empowering young girls, Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) is sponsoring the second edition of the ‘Flow with Dignity School Tour,’ a groundbreaking initiative aimed at enhancing menstrual hygiene and sex education for 5,000 beneficiaries.
This is according to a statement issued by Akeem Abas, the lawmaker’s Special Adviser on Media, and made available to journalists in Ibadan on Saturday.
The tour, organized in collaboration with the Women for Greater Good Foundation, coincides with the celebration of the 2024 International Day of the Girl Child. It expands on last year’s successful outreach, which impacted 800 girls across Oyo South Senatorial District.
With a focus on providing vital menstrual materials and educational resources, the initiative seeks to equip young girls with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate adolescence with confidence and dignity. By tackling issues often left undiscussed, such as menstrual hygiene and sexual health, the program aims to break barriers that frequently hinder girls’ school attendance during their menstrual cycles.
Senator Alli’s continued support for the initiative highlights his unwavering commitment to the well-being and future success of girls in his district. His efforts are seen as part of a broader mission to create a more inclusive society where young women are empowered to reach their full potential.
The distribution of menstrual hygiene kits and handbooks forms a key part of this year’s tour, with the aim of fostering healthier, more empowered lives for young girls and improving their educational outcomes.
This initiative is part of a larger agenda championed by Senator Alli, which seeks to bridge educational gaps and promote a more supportive environment for female students across Oyo South.
