As the 2024 NUJ Triennial Delegates Conference approaches, the Alhassan plus Abimbola (A+A) Campaign Council has warmly welcomed State Councils, Zonal Caucuses, and Delegates to Owerri, Imo State. The team expressed profound gratitude for the overwhelming solidarity and support shown during their nationwide campaign.

In a statement signed by the Director-General, Comrade Demola Babalola, and Secretary General, Comrade Kenneth Ofoma, the campaign council highlighted the wave of endorsements and adoptions of its candidates, particularly the frontline Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Comrade Alhassan Yahya. They noted that all other candidates within the A+A team have already been returned unopposed, showcasing the unity and cohesion of the group.

“Comrade Alhassan Yahya has led a vibrant and well-coordinated campaign team, alongside his running mate, Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde, the first female Deputy Presidential Candidate in the history of our Union,” the statement read. The duo traversed the country, meeting journalists at all levels and presenting a robust plan for the Union’s future.

Alhaji Yahya, who served as the Deputy National President of the NUJ, has committed to several transformative initiatives if elected, including:

The campaign council also emphasized Yahya’s decision to select a female running mate, underscoring his commitment to gender inclusivity. He assured that Mrs. Abimbola Oyetunde would be an equal partner in driving the Union’s agenda forward.

Reflecting on the endorsements received, the A+A Campaign Council acknowledged the overwhelming support from key regions across the country, from Lagos and Oyo in the Southwest to Enugu and the entire Southeast, as well as Adamawa, Kano, and other parts of the North.

“With just hours to go before the election, we urge our delegates to conclude this journey by electing Comrade Alhassan Yahya as the next National President of the NUJ. We remain optimistic about achieving victory through your unwavering support and by God’s grace,” the statement concluded.
