A leading member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and aspirant for the House of Representatives, Otunba Niyi Adekola, has further strengthened his grassroots connection by hosting party members and community stakeholders at a well-attended Christmas celebration in Ofiki, Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The colourful event attracted APC faithful from Atisbo, Saki East and Saki West local government areas, offering an opportunity for renewed interaction, bonding and strategic engagement among party stakeholders across the federal constituency.
Addressing the gathering, Adekola said the celebration was organised not only to share in the joy of the Christmas season but also to promote unity, peace and collective purpose within the party.
“This season reminds us of love, sacrifice and hope. I brought our people together to celebrate, share gifts, promote peace and rekindle hope in Ofiki, Atisbo and the entire constituency,” he said.
He explained that beyond the festive atmosphere, the gathering served as a deliberate platform to foster unity among APC members across the three local governments, stressing that a strong and united grassroots remains the backbone of the party’s success.
Declaring his intention to contest for a seat in the House of Representatives, Adekola said his aspiration was born out of persistent calls from the people and extensive consultations with political leaders, community elders and stakeholders across the constituency.
“I have always been a grassroots politician, serving the party at that level with dedication. The people have continued to encourage me, saying I am fit to represent them. After wide consultations, I felt morally obliged to respond to their call,” he stated.
While acknowledging the efforts of past and present representatives of the constituency, Adekola said his focus would be on consolidating existing achievements while addressing pressing needs based on the realities facing the people.
“Our previous representatives have done their best in different ways. What matters now is building on those efforts and responding to the present challenges and aspirations of our people,” he added.
The APC stalwart also used the occasion to commend President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for what he described as bold and courageous leadership in the face of daunting national challenges. While acknowledging the economic hardship being experienced by Nigerians, Adekola expressed confidence in the ongoing reforms.
“The president inherited a difficult economic and security situation. Rebuilding is never easy; you must first clear the old foundation. I am confident that the steps being taken now will soon begin to yield positive results for Nigerians,” he said.
Reaffirming his loyalty to the APC, Adekola pledged to support any credible candidate from the Oke-Ogun axis who emerges as the party’s flagbearer, stressing that the collective interest of the region remains paramount.
In his New Year message, he urged Nigerians to remain hopeful, resilient and supportive of the Tinubu administration, assuring that the sacrifices being made would translate into improved living conditions.
“Let us celebrate the New Year in peace and keep faith in a better Nigeria. By God’s grace, the dividends of these sacrifices will soon be evident,” he said.
The Ofiki gathering further underscored Otunba Adekola’s growing grassroots appeal and his readiness to play a more active role in representing the interests of the constituency at the national level.
