The Oyo Central Senatorial Candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has congratulated Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, on his emergence as the party’s presidential candidate, describing the development as a watershed moment capable of reshaping Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Makinde secured the APM presidential ticket following the party’s nationwide primary election conducted across the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory on Saturday.
His emergence has generated excitement among party faithful and political observers, who view it as a significant milestone as political parties intensify preparations and strategic alignments ahead of the next presidential election.
The governor was formally presented with his Certificate of Return by the APM National Chairman, Alhaji Yusuf Dantali, during a ceremony held in Ibadan, attended by party leaders, delegates, supporters and political associates from across the country.
Speaking at the event, Dantali described Makinde as a leader with the experience, vision and capacity required to provide purposeful leadership for Nigeria. He urged party members nationwide to unite behind the presidential candidate and commence aggressive grassroots mobilisation in preparation for the 2027 polls.
Reacting to the outcome of the primary, Ajadi, in a statement personally signed and made available to journalists, described Makinde’s victory as well-deserved and a reflection of the confidence reposed in his leadership credentials by party members across the country.
According to him, Makinde’s emergence did not come as a surprise to those familiar with his track record in governance, public administration and democratic leadership.
“I warmly congratulate our leader, Engr. Seyi Makinde, on his resounding victory at the APM presidential primary election. This is a triumph of vision, competence and purposeful leadership,” Ajadi said.
The APM senatorial candidate noted that the governor’s emergence represents a major boost for the party and signals its readiness to mount a formidable challenge in the 2027 presidential election.
He described the outcome of the primary as a testament to Makinde’s commitment to democratic values, good governance and national development.
“Those who know Governor Makinde’s antecedents in politics and governance are not surprised by this achievement. His emergence is a recognition of his leadership qualities and dedication to the growth of democracy in Nigeria,” he stated.
Ajadi expressed confidence that the APM, under Makinde’s leadership, would offer Nigerians a credible alternative and present solutions to the economic and social challenges confronting the country.
According to him, the party is determined to improve the living conditions of Nigerians and restore hope to citizens struggling with economic hardship.
“We believe that with Governor Makinde as our presidential candidate, the APM is positioned to transform the political narrative in Nigeria and provide the leadership Nigerians have been yearning for,” he said.
Ajadi further predicted that Makinde’s candidacy would trigger significant political realignments across the country, attracting support from Nigerians seeking a new direction for the nation.
“His emergence will undoubtedly change the political equation ahead of the 2027 elections. We are optimistic that Nigerians will embrace his vision and leadership style as we work towards building a more prosperous, secure and inclusive nation.”
The philanthropist and businessman wished the party’s presidential candidate a successful campaign, assuring him of the unwavering support of party members and stakeholders across Oyo State and beyond.
“Congratulations once again, Your Excellency. We pray for a successful campaign and victory for our great party in the forthcoming elections. Together, we will work towards delivering a brighter future for all Nigerians,” Ajadi added.
Political observers believe that Makinde’s emergence as the APM presidential standard-bearer could further reshape political calculations ahead of what is expected to be one of Nigeria’s most fiercely contested presidential elections.
