Senator Alli Mourns Passing of Chief Raymond Zard, Lauds His Impact on Nigeria

The All Progressives Congress (APC) Senator, representing Oyo South at the upper chamber of the national assembly, Senator Sharafadeen Alli has expressed deep sorrow over the death of renowned industrialist and philanthropist Chief (Dr) Raymond Zard, OFR, describing it as a significant loss to both Ibadanland and the nation as a whole.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday in Ibadan, Senator Alli paid tribute to Chief Zard, who passed away at the age of 86 on Sunday in Holland. Chief Zard was the owner of Zard Holdings, a conglomerate with multiple companies.

“His conglomerate, comprising several companies in Nigeria, was a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to economic development,” said Alli. He emphasized that Chief Zard’s leadership and vision were unparalleled, leaving an indelible mark on Nigeria’s industrial landscape.

Beyond his business achievements, Chief Zard held the prestigious title of Babalaje of Ibadanland, reflecting his deep dedication to the cultural and social upliftment of the community. Senator Alli praised Zard as “a beacon of progress and an embodiment of selfless service to humanity.”

“As we mourn his loss, we must also celebrate his life and legacy. Chief Zard’s numerous contributions to both the business world and our society at large will continue to inspire future generations. His memory will remain etched in our hearts as a symbol of excellence and benevolence,” he stated.

Senator Alli extended his deepest sympathies to the Zard family, friends, and associates, praying that Almighty God grant his soul eternal rest.
