The management of Shooting Stars Sports Club (3SC) of Ibadan has expressed profound grief and solidarity with Heartland FC of Owerri following a devastating road accident that claimed the life of their coach, Christian Obi.
In an official statement signed by the Executive Chairman of the Oluyole Warriors, Honourable Babatunde Olaniyan Akoro, 3SC conveyed its deep condolences to the Heartland FC community.
“We extend our heartfelt sympathy to our brothers at Heartland FC over the tragic passing of Coach Christian Obi, who lost his life in the unfortunate accident on Friday. The news of the road mishap, which occurred near Okigwe as the team was en route to Abakaliki for the Tico/Pre-Season Tournament, has deeply saddened us,” the statement read.
The club expressed its sorrow over the loss of a respected figure in Nigerian football and shared in the collective grief of Heartland FC, the entire Imo State, and the broader Nigerian football fraternity.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the entire Heartland FC family, and we pray that God grants Coach Obi eternal rest. We also extend our wishes for a swift recovery to the injured players and officials who are currently receiving treatment,” Olaniyan added.
The accident, which cast a shadow over the football community, has united clubs across the nation in mourning and support for those affected by this tragic event.
