In a bold move aimed at restoring unity, the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has announced the suspension of former Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, citing alleged anti-party activities and actions detrimental to party cohesion.
The APC in Osun submitted a formal resolution to the National Secretariat, directed at National Chairman Dr. Umar Ganduje, accusing Aregbesola, a former governor of the state, of sowing division within the party by allegedly fostering a rival faction. According to the state APC, this factionalism has disrupted internal harmony, posing a challenge to the party’s stability at a crucial time in Osun’s political landscape.
Party leaders emphasized that Aregbesola’s influence on specific groups within the APC had incited discord and fragmentation, prompting the suspension as a means to reclaim unity. The decision signals the party’s commitment to reinforcing loyalty and cohesion among its ranks. Meanwhile, reactions from Aregbesola’s associates are anticipated as developments unfold.
