Ajadi Courts Oyo Councillors, Vows to Sustain Makinde’s Legacy, Strengthen Grassroots Governance

A governorship aspirant on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has met with members of the Oyo State Councillors Forum in Iseyin, declaring his readiness to consolidate and expand the developmental achievements of Governor Seyi Makinde.

Addressing councillors gathered at the Iseyin City Hall, Ajadi described himself as the embodiment of “Omituntun 3.0 — continuity without compromise,” stressing that his aspiration is motivated by loyalty to the party, a commitment to reform, and a vision to deepen grassroots participation in governance.

“I am here because you are the closest leaders to the people,” Ajadi said.
“Governor Seyi Makinde has done exceptionally well, and Oyo State cannot risk handing over this progress to the wrong hands. That is why I represent Omituntun 3.0 — continuity of good governance.”

The meeting—attended by councillors from all 33 local government areas—was described as historic, marking the first time a governorship aspirant would officially engage the Councillors Forum on such a scale.

Ajadi, who reiterated his identity as a “son of the soil,” noted that he hails from Ward 8, Osengere, Egbeda Local Government, and is the son of Ibadan business mogul, Chief Bode Amoo. He said his presence at the meeting was a reaffirmation of his respect for the party structure and grassroots leadership.

“We are here today because we are bonafide members of the PDP,” he declared, before leading a minute of silence for deceased councillors and offering prayers for party leaders and members.

Highlighting his private-sector achievements, the aspirant referenced the growth of Bullion Go-Neat Global Limited and its subsidiaries—Bullion Records, BullionMonie, Bullion Properties, Bullion Automobiles, and Bullion Sports—as evidence of his capacity for visionary economic and organisational leadership.

Leaders across the zones applauded Ajadi’s outreach while presenting sector-specific needs.

  • Ogbomosho Zone: Hon. Oladeyinde commended Ajadi’s recognition of councillors and sought support for voter registration mobilisation.
  • Ibarapa Zone: Hon. Lawrence Olubuse Adepoju called for improved inner roads and greater youth employment opportunities.
  • Ibadan Zone: Hon. Salewa Taiwo pledged strong backing from women, urging inclusive governance. Hon. Adeola Sunday requested financial support for councillors as ward coordinators and warned against political imposition.

Leader of the House, Egbeda Local Government, Hon. Olasukanmi Olusola, praised Ajadi as the first governorship aspirant to formally acknowledge the strategic importance of councillors:
“Egbeda Local Government is proud to associate with Ambassador Ajadi.”

In his closing remarks, Hon. Salaudeen Abdulkabir revealed that Ajadi had approved financial support for all councillors, including families of deceased members. He added that the aspirant also pledged five solar-powered streetlights per ward—a commitment Ajadi confirmed instantly.

Delivering the vote of thanks, Hon. Ibitoye Simon urged Ajadi to maintain strong ties with Governor Makinde to preserve party unity ahead of the primaries.

The Oyo State Councillors Forum currently comprises 351 members, with three confirmed deceased.
