A leading Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship aspirant in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has extended warm Easter greetings to Christians across Nigeria, including Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN), and the entire Christian faithful.
In a statement personally signed on Friday, Ajadi described Good Friday and Easter Sunday as significant milestones in Christianity, symbolising the sacrifice, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ, which remain the foundation of the Christian faith.
He expressed joy that this year’s Easter celebration is being observed in an atmosphere of relative peace and tranquility across the country, urging Nigerians to remain grateful and hopeful.
The governorship hopeful particularly commended Governor Makinde for what he described as exemplary leadership and good governance over the past seven years, noting that the governor’s selflessness and commitment to the welfare of the people reflect true Christian virtues. He prayed for continued wisdom and success for the governor in his service to the state.
Ajadi also called on Christians to uphold the teachings of Jesus Christ, especially the commandment to love one another. According to him, genuine adherence to this principle would foster peace, unity, and harmony in society.
The philanthropist further urged well-meaning Nigerians, particularly Christians, to extend support to the less privileged, stressing that the true essence of Easter lies in compassion, humility, and sacrificial love.
He noted that the death and resurrection of Christ would be meaningful in the lives of believers only when these virtues are reflected in their daily conduct.
Speaking on the state of the nation, Ajadi acknowledged the current economic challenges and security concerns but maintained that there is hope for Nigeria. He encouraged citizens to remain steadfast in prayer and faith, expressing confidence that the country would overcome its challenges and regain its position of pride in Africa and among Black nations globally.
He concluded by urging Nigerians to continue to pray for the peace, progress, and prosperity of the nation.
