Senator Alli Mourns Ojoo-Iwo Road Accident Victims, Urges Swift Action on Road Safety

Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has expressed profound sorrow over the tragic loss of lives in the recent multiple-vehicle accident at the Agbowo axis of the Ojoo-Iwo road on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

The devastating accident, which claimed 16 lives and left 17 others injured, was reportedly caused by brake failure.

In a statement released by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, Senator Alli extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased and offered prayers for the swift recovery of those injured.

The lawmaker described the incident as a heartbreaking blow to the community and called for immediate and effective measures to prevent such tragedies from recurring.

Emphasizing the importance of road safety, Senator Alli urged all road users to prioritize safety and adhere strictly to traffic regulations.

“Proper road maintenance and regular checks on vehicles to prevent mechanical failures, which have been a significant cause of accidents on Nigerian roads, is very important,” Senator Alli stated.

He also called on the relevant authorities to intensify their efforts in road safety awareness campaigns.

Furthermore, Senator Alli urged the Federal Government to address the ongoing construction challenges along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.

He appealed to the Ministry of Works to ensure that contractors expedite the construction process and implement safety measures to protect road users.

Reaffirming his commitment to the safety and well-being of his constituents and all Nigerians, Senator Alli assured the public that he would continue to advocate for necessary interventions to improve road safety and prevent the loss of lives on the nation’s highways.
