Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the continuous rehabilitation and renovation of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, declaring that the government will ensure the facility becomes one of the best orientation camps in Nigeria.
The governor gave the assurance on Friday, November 6, 2026, while addressing the 2026 Batch C Stream II Corps Members during their swearing-in and official opening ceremony of the orientation course at the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp, Ede, Osun State.
Adeleke, who welcomed the prospective Corps Members to the State of the Virtuous, emphasised that the welfare, security and general well-being of Corps Members serving in Osun remained a priority of his administration.
He noted that providing safe, functional and befitting facilities for young Nigerians undertaking the national service programme was an important responsibility of government.
According to him, the ongoing renovation and rehabilitation of the permanent orientation camp would continue until the facility attained the standard of one of the best NYSC orientation camps in the federation.
The governor described the NYSC scheme as one of Nigeria’s most enduring instruments for promoting national unity, integration and responsible citizenship, urging the Corps Members to embrace the diversity of the country by building meaningful relationships across ethnic, religious and cultural boundaries.
He stressed that their deployment to Osun should not be regarded merely as an obligation but as an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the development of the state and the country.
Adeleke also charged the Corps Members to approach their national assignment with patriotism, discipline, humility and a strong sense of responsibility, reminding them that their conduct would reflect the values and character of Nigerian youths.
The governor particularly commended the leadership and management of the NYSC, especially the Director-General, Brigadier General OO Nafiu, the Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, and staff of the state secretariat for their contributions to the successful participation of Corps Members in the August 15, 2026, off-cycle governorship election in Osun State.
He applauded the Corps Members who participated in the electoral exercise, noting that they demonstrated professionalism, neutrality and discipline throughout the process.
According to him, their conduct and commitment to duty, without partisanship, further demonstrated that Nigerian youths could be trusted with sensitive national responsibilities.
He described their performance as commendable and urged the new batch of Corps Members to uphold similar standards of integrity, dedication and patriotism throughout their service year.
Adeleke equally acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, traditional institutions, host communities and other stakeholders to the successful implementation of the NYSC programme in the state.
He assured the NYSC management that his administration would continue to strengthen its partnership with the scheme in the interest of Corps Members and the people of Osun State.
The governor subsequently declared the 2026 Batch C Stream II Orientation Course in Osun State officially open, wishing the Corps Members a safe, successful and rewarding service year.
Earlier, the NYSC Osun State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, welcomed the governor, the Honourable Chief Judge, distinguished guests, stakeholders and prospective Corps Members to the ceremony, describing the commencement of the orientation course as an important milestone in the lives of the young Nigerians.
Representing the Director-General and the entire NYSC management, Kubiangha congratulated the prospective Corps Members on their successful completion of their academic pursuits and urged them to approach the service year with open minds, discipline, enthusiasm and a willingness to learn.
He explained that the orientation programme was designed to prepare the Corps Members mentally, physically and socially for the responsibilities of national service.
According to him, the programme would expose them to military drills, physical training, lectures, skills acquisition and entrepreneurship development, social and cultural activities, inter-platoon competitions, community development sensitisation and other activities aimed at promoting discipline, patriotism, leadership, teamwork and national integration.
He urged the Corps Members to participate actively in all scheduled activities and maximise the opportunities available to them during the orientation exercise.
The State Coordinator further explained that the orientation camp would provide opportunities for the participants to acquire relevant knowledge on security, health, financial literacy, civic responsibilities, interpersonal relationships and other issues essential to a successful service year.
He advised them to pay attention to instructions from facilitators, ask questions whenever necessary and take seriously the information provided during lectures and sensitisation programmes.
Kubiangha emphasised that discipline remained central to the NYSC programme, warning that acts capable of compromising the safety of Corps Members and the peaceful atmosphere of the camp would not be tolerated.
He specifically cautioned against cultism, drug abuse, fighting, sexual harassment, unauthorised movement and other forms of misconduct.
He urged the Corps Members to respect camp rules and regulations, obey lawful instructions from camp officials and security personnel, and conduct themselves responsibly throughout the orientation period.
The Coordinator also advised them to remain security-conscious during their service year, use social media responsibly and avoid unnecessary risks.
While assuring them that the Osun State Government remained committed to providing a safe environment, he stressed that individual responsibility and vigilance were equally important.
He encouraged the Corps Members to promptly report security concerns to their supervisors and relevant NYSC officials and strictly adhere to security advisories.
The NYSC Coordinator expressed profound appreciation to Governor Adeleke for the support his administration had continued to extend to the scheme, particularly the ongoing extensive renovation and rehabilitation of the permanent orientation camp in Ede.
He observed that the improvements were already contributing significantly to the quality of the environment in which Corps Members were accommodated and trained.
Kubiangha, on behalf of the NYSC Director-General, Brigadier General OO Nafiu, the management and entire NYSC family, also appreciated the governor’s commitment to the welfare, security and general well-being of Corps Members serving in the state.
He expressed optimism that the continued support of the state government would further improve camp facilities and create a more conducive environment for Corps Members throughout their service year.
He equally acknowledged the contributions of security agencies, health personnel, camp officials, collaborating ministries, departments and agencies, service providers, volunteers and other stakeholders whose efforts were essential to the successful conduct of the orientation course.
He called on all personnel involved in camp administration to remain professional, courteous and responsive to the needs of Corps Members.
Both the governor and the NYSC State Coordinator urged the Corps Members to see their service year as an opportunity for personal development, national integration and meaningful contributions to the country’s progress.
While Adeleke charged them to become ambassadors of peace, integrity and national unity wherever they were deployed, Kubiangha urged them to take their oaths of allegiance with sincerity and a firm commitment to serve Nigeria faithfully.
The ceremony formally ushered the 2026 Batch C Stream II prospective Corps Members into the NYSC scheme following the administration of the National Pledge and Oath of Allegiance by the Honourable Chief Judge.
The governor wished the Corps Members a fulfilling and memorable service year, while praying for God’s blessings upon them, Osun State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
