Oyo State Government Begins Payment of N513 Million Compensation to Ajia Property Owners

The Oyo State Government has initiated the payment of over N513 million in compensation to property owners affected by its developmental projects in the Ajia Inukan Local Council Development Area (LCDA) of Ona Ara Local Government.

This announcement was made by the Commissioner for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Mr. Williams Akin-Funmilayo, during a meeting with the claimants on Monday. The government had recently acquired land in the area for the construction of an Air Force Base, a General Hospital, and an ICT center.

Speaking on the development, Akin-Funmilayo emphasized that the compensation is a key component in maintaining a positive relationship between the government and the local residents. He noted, “The payment of this compensation is not just a legal obligation but also a reflection of our commitment to ensuring that the residents benefit from the government’s developmental projects.”

The sum of N513,462,446.50 has been earmarked for the compensation, which follows a thorough identification and verification process conducted by the state government. Property owners along the corridor of the project had their properties evaluated to ensure fair compensation.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Adedokun Olalekan, expressed his appreciation to Governor Seyi Makinde for the initiative. “We are grateful to the Governor for his consideration and empathy towards the people of Oyo State,” Olalekan said.

This compensation marks a significant step forward in the Oyo State Government’s ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure while ensuring the rights and well-being of its citizens are respected.
