The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Osun State Secretariat, has clarified reports concerning the alleged disappearance of a corps member, Ms. Adewebi Opeoluwa, serving at St. James Grammar School, Ayetoro, Olorunda Local Government Area of the state.
The Scheme said the corps member has confirmed that she was neither missing nor kidnapped, putting to rest concerns generated by reports of her alleged disappearance.
According to a statement by the NYSC Osun State Secretariat, the initial concern arose after the corps member’s mother was unable to reach her for several days, prompting a report which was subsequently circulated and amplified on social media and other online platforms.
The NYSC confirmed that Ms. Adewebi is safe and accounted for and has expressed regret over the concern and distress the situation may have caused the NYSC community, her Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), colleagues, friends and other stakeholders.
The Scheme appreciated members of the public, NYSC officials, colleagues and other stakeholders who expressed concern and made efforts to ascertain the corps member’s whereabouts and safety.
The NYSC Osun State Secretariat said the matter has now been duly clarified, assuring the public that *there is no cause for alarm regarding the corps member’s safety*.
