Zacch Adedeji, Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Chief Michael Adeniyi Koleosho, former Secretary to the Oyo State Government. Adedeji characterized Chief Koleosho’s passing as the loss of a “patriotic father and great counsellor,” marking the departure of one of the last bastions of true progressive leadership.
In a condolence message conveyed through his Special Adviser on Media, Dare Adekanmbi, Adedeji reflected on Chief Koleosho’s enduring legacy as a leader who unwaveringly stood for truth, fairness, and equity. He described the late elder statesman as a figure of immense wisdom and integrity, whose life was devoted to championing the principles of justice and development.
“The news of Papa’s passing hit me with profound sadness, despite his advanced age of 86,” Adedeji stated. “No matter how old our loved ones are, we always wish they could stay with us forever. But I find comfort in the fact that Papa lived a life of discipline and virtue.”
Adedeji shared personal reflections on his close relationship with Chief Koleosho, whom he affectionately referred to as “Papa.” He emphasized the deep impact Chief Koleosho had on his life, particularly through the invaluable lessons imparted during their numerous interactions. “Papa was more than just a father figure; he was a mentor and a great counsellor who guided young people like me with wisdom and care.”
Highlighting Chief Koleosho’s commitment to public service, Adedeji lauded his contributions to the growth and development of Saki, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole. “Papa’s dedication to worthy causes was unparalleled. He served with every ounce of strength God bestowed upon him. He was a thoroughbred progressive leader, truly one of the last of the originals,” Adedeji remarked.
In closing, Adedeji extended his heartfelt condolences to Chief Koleosho’s family, particularly to his brother and Chief of Staff, Tayo Koleosho. He acknowledged the profound loss they have suffered but also celebrated the legacy of their iconic father.
“This painful yet glorious departure of a great patriarch leaves a void that will be deeply felt. But Papa’s legacy of leadership and mentorship will continue to inspire us all,” Adedeji concluded.
