As part of his ongoing efforts to combat poverty, Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) on Wednesday provided vital skill enhancement kits to numerous constituents in Ibadan. This empowerment initiative is aimed at strengthening local entrepreneurship and professional development by equipping beneficiaries with essential tools for their trades.
The distribution, which spanned various sectors, saw recipients walk away with items such as palmtops, grinders, cameras, printers, makeup kits, gas cylinders, and cookers. In a significant boost to the healthcare sector, medical kits containing electronic blood pressure monitors, blood glucose meters, and thermometers were also distributed to those in need.
Speaking at the event, Hon. Mojeed Olaoya, the Oyo South Senatorial Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), praised Senator Alli’s unwavering commitment to uplifting his constituents. Olaoya highlighted how these tools would not only enhance productivity but also help beneficiaries sustain their businesses and improve their quality of life.
“Senator Alli has proven himself as a grassroots leader who understands the needs of his people. Despite being a first-term lawmaker, he has hit the ground running with impactful empowerment programs. This is what the people need—practical support that changes lives,” said Olaoya.
Alhaja Tinuade Adigun, the State APC Women Leader, commended the senator for his focus on inclusive empowerment, particularly for women. She emphasized that the support would help beneficiaries gain financial independence and urged them to use the kits wisely. “This is a great opportunity for many families. Similarly, Hon. Kehinde Subair, an APC chieftain, hailed the senator’s strategic approach to grassroots empowerment. Mustapha Olatunde from Tapa in Ibarapa North Local Government called Senator Alli a “pace-setter” for prioritizing the welfare of his people. “He has done so much to uplift us, and we are grateful for his efforts. I pray for his continued success,” Olatunde said.
Mrs. Temilade Olufowoki from Ibadan South-East Local Government echoed these sentiments, noting that the senator’s consistent efforts had brought positive change to the community. “Senator Alli has been a blessing to us all. May he continue to succeed in all his endeavors,” she added.
