Senator (Dr.) Sharafadeen Alli (APC–Oyo South), who also serves as the Ekaarun Balogun of Ibadanland, has congratulated former Senate Leader, Senator Teslim Folarin, on his elevation to the esteemed title of Agbaakin Olubadan of Ibadanland by the Olubadan, Oba (Sen.) Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.
In a personally signed statement released to journalists on Friday in Ibadan, Senator Alli described Folarin’s ascension as a fitting honour that reflects his long-standing contributions to the socio-political development and cultural heritage of Ibadanland.
He commended the Olubadan, Oba Ladoja, for upholding the revered traditions of the Olubadan chieftaincy system through the elevation, noting that the ancient city is experiencing renewed unity and progress under his leadership.
According to him, Senator Folarin’s new title is well-deserved, given his distinguished record as a three-term senator, former Senate Leader, and a committed advocate for the upliftment of Ibadan and its people.
“Senator Folarin has consistently demonstrated devotion to the growth and stability of Ibadanland. His elevation as Agbaakin is not only timely but a rightful recognition of his distinguished service,” Alli stated.
The Oyo South senator expressed confidence that Folarin will deploy his vast experience, influence, and networks to support the Olubadan-in-Council in strengthening traditional institutions, promoting unity, and advancing the development of Ibadanland.
He added that the Agbaakin title carries significant responsibilities, requiring wisdom, courage, and selfless leadership—qualities he believes Senator Folarin has exemplified over the years.
Alli prayed for divine guidance and success for the new Agbaakin as he takes on this important traditional role, describing the elevation as a proud moment for Ibadanland and a boost to its enduring cultural values.
