Oyo 2027: PDP Will Be on the Ballot, Emerge Victorious – Ajadi Assures Supporters at Ramadan Lecture

A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has assured party supporters that despite the current challenges facing the party, the PDP will remain on the ballot and secure victory in the 2027 general elections.

Ajadi gave the assurance on Friday while speaking at a Ramadan Lecture he organized for Muslims across Oyo State. The event was held at the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) playing ground in Ibadan and attracted religious leaders, party stakeholders, and members of the Muslim community.

The PDP chieftain expressed confidence that by the grace of God, the party would not only participate in the 2027 elections but also record a landslide victory in Oyo State.

According to him, the Ramadan lecture was organized to promote peaceful political engagement and enlighten politicians on the need to practice responsible and ethical politics.

Speaking on the theme of the lecture, “Good Politics,” Ajadi said the topic was carefully chosen to address the negative perception and conduct often associated with politics.

“The theme was chosen in response to the way some politicians conduct themselves in the political space. As we approach the next general elections, it is important to preach and promote good politics. Politics should not be seen as a violent or rough venture,” he said.

Ajadi added that the aim of the lecture was to encourage politicians to embrace peaceful coexistence, tolerance, and responsible leadership.

“We want politicians to understand that politics must be peaceful. That is why we invited our respected father, Sheikh Usman Sanni Sheu, to deliver the lecture on ‘Good Politics,’” he explained.

The governorship hopeful also expressed excitement about hosting the Ramadan lecture in Ibadan, noting that it was the first time the event would be held in the city of his birth.

“I am delighted that this year’s Ramadan lecture is taking place in Ibadan, bringing together Muslims from different backgrounds. We have been organizing similar lectures in Ogun State for many years, but this year we decided to hold it in Ibadan to strengthen our bond with the Muslim community here,” Ajadi said.

Delivering the lecture, the guest speaker, Fadheelafus-Shaykh Al-Mufasir Usman Sanni Sheu, Chief Tafseer of Ilorin Emirate and Al-Adaby, urged politicians to shun thuggery and violence, stressing that politics must be practiced with integrity and a sense of responsibility.

The respected Islamic scholar also commended Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, describing him as a peaceful and respectful leader who values religious leaders and the people he governs.

He encouraged Ajadi to emulate the leadership style of Governor Makinde, whom he described as a model of responsible governance.

“I have known Ajadi as a peaceful person. I encourage him to maintain this character and continue on the path of good politics as he pursues his political ambition,” Sheikh Sheu said.

He further warned politicians against engaging in hooliganism and other forms of political misconduct, stressing that such actions undermine democratic values and societal peace.

The event featured musical performances by popular Islamic artistes including Alhaji Saoty Arewa, Alhaja Kiyafat Singer, and Rodiat Arike Omo Sheu, who entertained the audience with inspiring renditions.

The programme was anchored by renowned Masters of Ceremony Baba Labule and MC Kirikiri, adding vibrancy to the well-attended gathering of PDP leaders, supporters, and members of the Muslim community across Oyo State.
