World Teachers’ Day: Adegoke Salutes Oyo Teachers’ Resilience, Pledges Stronger Support

…Says Teachers Are Architects of Future, Calls for Education System That Values Their Voices

The Oyo State governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Olooye Adegboyega Taofeek Adegoke (FCA), has commended teachers across Oyo State and Nigeria for their resilience, sacrifice and commitment to shaping the future of the country.

Adegoke, in a goodwill message issued to mark this year’s World Teachers’ Day, described teachers as indispensable partners in national development, noting that their contributions extend beyond classroom teaching to character formation, mentorship and the development of future generations.

He acknowledged the numerous challenges confronting the teaching profession but praised teachers for continuing to discharge their responsibilities with dedication despite the difficulties.

According to him, the passion and sacrifice of teachers remain critical to the success of the education system and the overall development of society.

“Your passion, sacrifice and devotion to your profession are not only invaluable but also critical to the success of our education system and the development of our nation,” Adegoke said.

He described teachers as “the true architects of our future”, saying they play a fundamental role in moulding the minds of young people, nurturing their talents and inspiring them to pursue excellence.

“Your work goes beyond imparting knowledge; you shape character, encourage critical thinking and foster a lifelong love for learning,” he added.

The ADC candidate said he recognised the challenges teachers face in the course of their duties, including the changing demands of modern education and the need to adapt to new learning environments.

He noted that teachers had continued to demonstrate courage and resilience in classrooms, virtual learning spaces and communities, thereby touching countless lives and leaving enduring legacies.

“We recognise the challenges you face, and yet, you continue to rise above them with grace and determination. Your resilience, especially in times of uncertainty, is a testament to your strength and dedication,” he said.

Adegoke further described teachers as mentors who ignite curiosity, encourage learning and provide young people with the intellectual and moral foundation required to navigate life.

He expressed appreciation to teachers for their indispensable contribution to society, assuring them that their work was valued and that he would continue to support initiatives aimed at enabling them to perform more effectively.

The ADC governorship candidate called on government, education authorities, parents, communities and other stakeholders to work collectively towards building an education system that places teachers at the centre of educational development.

He advocated an environment where teachers’ professional contributions and voices would be respected and where they would have the necessary support, resources and opportunities to deliver quality education.

“Today, we celebrate not just your profession but your passion. Thank you for being the light that brightens our world, the mentors who ignite curiosity and the heroes who tirelessly nurture our next generation,” Adegoke said.

He urged stakeholders to see investment in teachers as an investment in the future of Oyo State and Nigeria, stressing that no education system could achieve sustainable progress without motivated, adequately supported and professionally equipped teachers.

Adegoke concluded by congratulating teachers across Oyo State and Nigeria, expressing optimism that continued collaboration among stakeholders would produce an education system capable of unlocking the potential of every learner.
