3,125 Corps Members Complete NYSC Service in Osun as Kubiangha Urges Entrepreneurship, Discipline

A total of 3,125 Corps Members have successfully completed their national service in Osun State, with the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, urging them to embrace discipline, humility, hard work, contentment and faith as they transition into life after the mandatory one-year service.

The outgoing Corps Members comprised 1,432 males and 1,693 females, who participated in the Passing-Out Parade (POP) held on Thursday across the state’s 30 local government areas and one area office.

Kubiangha, who monitored the exercise in Aiyedire and Iwo local government areas, congratulated the outgoing Corps Members on the successful completion of their service year and commended their contributions to national development.

He described the batch as unique, noting that its members had completed their service year without being divided into different streams.

At Aiyedire, the State Coordinator led the Corps Members in songs of praise and thanksgiving prayers to appreciate God for preserving them throughout the service year.

He also prayed for divine guidance and favourable employment opportunities for the outgoing Corps Members, urging them not to lose hope or become discouraged by the limited availability of conventional white-collar jobs.

Kubiangha encouraged them to remain steadfast, positive and committed to building meaningful careers, stressing that success could be achieved through determination, patience and the willingness to explore available opportunities.

The Chairman of Aiyedire Local Government, Hon. Engr. Adigun Adejare, recalled his own national service experience in Ogun State, noting that Corps Members could build successful and fulfilling lives regardless of where they were deployed.

He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, experience and personal development in career advancement, while commending the outgoing Corps Members for their conduct and urging them to prepare adequately for the responsibilities that accompany life after service.

Certificates were subsequently presented to the outgoing Corps Members at the event.

In a celebratory moment, the Corps Members also marked Kubiangha’s birthday with a cake presentation in appreciation of his leadership and relationship with them.

Addressing the outgoing Corps Members at Iwo, Kubiangha urged them to maximise the opportunities provided by the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme by translating the skills acquired during their service year into sustainable businesses and alternative sources of livelihood.

He advised them against depending solely on paid employment, encouraging them to become innovative, entrepreneurial and self-reliant in confronting the economic realities of life after service.

The State Coordinator further counselled them to remain humble, contented, hardworking and grateful to God, while making their personal safety a priority.

He particularly cautioned them against travelling in their NYSC uniforms, emphasising the need to take precautionary measures and remain security-conscious as they move into the next phase of their lives.

The monitoring officer and Deputy Director, South-West Area Office II, Mrs Yemisi Otaru, also congratulated the outgoing Corps Members on the successful completion of their national service.

She reminded them of the core values of selfless service, national unity and mutual respect which the NYSC Scheme seeks to promote, urging them to sustain these ideals in their personal and professional engagements.

Otaru encouraged the Corps Members to embrace contentment and responsible living, while acknowledging the Director-General’s continued concern for their welfare.

She also cautioned them against night journeys and prayed for their safety, success and fulfilment in their future endeavours.

The ceremony featured the presentation of awards to deserving Corps Members, while the Corps Liaison Officer, Ajadi Alimat (OS/25C/1812), delivered the vote of thanks.

Meanwhile, Kubiangha, accompanied by other NYSC officials, paid a courtesy visit to the Alabere of Abere, Oba Dr Adefemi Mutalib Adelakin, in appreciation of the monarch’s surprise visit to the State Coordinator’s residence in Osogbo on Wednesday, October 28, to celebrate his birthday.

The State Coordinator was accompanied on the visit by the Assistant Director, Deployment and Relocation, Mrs Fatima Taiwo; Assistant Director, Planning, Research and Statistics, Mr Jamiu Olukokun; and other NYSC officials.

The visit underscored the cordial relationship between the NYSC management in Osun State and the traditional institution, as well as the Scheme’s appreciation of the monarch’s goodwill and show of solidarity.
