The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council has commenced allocating lands to colleagues who subscribed to the novel Journalists Estate at Alapako on Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
The exercise which was carried out by the Chairman of Oyo State Council of the NUJ, Comrade Ademola Babalola was witnessed and coordinated by the Secretary of the Union who doubles as the Chairman of the Estate land allocation, Comrade Sola Oladapo.
The NUJ Chairman commended members who availed themselves of the opportunities to own a property within the sprawling estate, admonishing those yet to update their payments and others yet to subscribe to do so without further delay.
Babalola thanked the vendor, Sacred Gold Homes and Property led by a prominent Islamic cleric and televangelist, Alhaji Taofeek Akeugbagold and the Alapako community for their love for journalists and cooperation since the commencement of the project.
He assured subscribers and entire journalists that the turning of the sod of the Estate would be carried out by the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Oluseyi Makinde in conjunction with the President of NUJ, Chief Chris Isiguzo before the end of this year’s first quarter.
While thanking other partners of the Union, including the Union’s bank and consultants for their supports, Babalola assured that the estate would rival other notable GRAs in Ibadan and in the neighbouring Ogun State in due course.
Also in attendance on Tuesday at Alapako are some members of the Union, the surveyors and consultants working on the estate.
