Comrade Alhassan Yahaya, a prominent contender for the upcoming Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) national election, joined Muslim journalists nationwide in commemorating this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of Prophet Muhammad (SAW).
In a statement released on Sunday, Alhassan extended his heartfelt congratulations to Muslim members of the NUJ, calling for reflection on the life and teachings of the Prophet.
Similarly, the Deputy Presidential Candidate, Abimbola Oyetunde, expressed joy on the occasion, urging Muslim journalists to embrace the values of the Prophet, particularly those of compassion, unity, and service to humanity.
The message, conveyed in a statement by Comrade Ademola Babalola on behalf of Team A+A, a support group backing the candidates ahead of the November election in Owerri, Imo State, highlighted the Prophet’s virtues.
“Prophet Muhammad’s life embodies resilience, empathy, humility, and submission to Allah’s will.
“These are lessons not only for individual reflection but also for us as a union, as we strive to embody these values in our service to journalists and society at large,” the statement read.
Both Alhassan and Abimbola emphasized the importance of the occasion as an opportunity to renew their commitment to the core principles that the Prophet stood for.
“As we mark this sacred event, we reflect deeply on the Prophet’s teachings and renew our resolve to lead the Union with compassion, justice, and peace,” they said.
The candidates also assured NUJ members of their dedication to fostering professional excellence, innovation, and an environment that supports the well-being of journalists.
“Our vision is to build a Union that leaves a lasting legacy of progress and inclusiveness,” the statement added.
Concluding, Babalola expressed his hope for a peaceful and joyous celebration for Muslim members of the Union, reaffirming Team A+A’s unwavering commitment to ensuring the continued development of the NUJ and society as a whole.
