Ajadi Urges Politicians to Prioritize Service, Earns Fatherhood Honour in Ibadan

IBADAN, Nigeria – Prominent South-West chieftain of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has called on Nigerian politicians to prioritize service to humanity by giving back to society through job creation, empowerment, and community development initiatives.

Ambassador Ajadi gave the charge on Sunday while addressing journalists shortly after receiving the Father Abraham Distinguished Award during the 2025 Father’s Day Celebration of the New Heritage Baptist Church, Eniosa, Ibadan.

The award, conferred by the church’s Men’s Missionary Union, recognized exemplary leadership and commitment to family and societal values.

Ajadi, who was accompanied by a high-powered delegation of NNPP members and associates, emphasized that holding public office should be seen as a platform to uplift lives, rather than for personal enrichment.

“Many politicians often fail to give back even a fraction of what God has blessed them with,” he said. “Before you attained public office, you knew your status. It’s only fair and just that you use part of that privilege to support the less privileged. If you neglect your community, don’t be surprised if they turn their backs on you when you need them.”

Ajadi warned that the disconnect between elected officials and their constituents often leads to voter apathy, urging public officeholders to always prioritize their constituents’ welfare.

“Those who voted you into power should not be forgotten. Provide jobs, initiate empowerment programmes, and let your leadership touch lives in tangible ways,” he added.

The NNPP chieftain was joined at the award ceremony by notable party leaders, including:

  • Hon. Kilamuwaye Badmus, NNPP South-West Public Relations Officer;
  • Hon. Kehinde Teluwo, 2023 Ogun Central Senatorial Candidate;
  • Hon. Akingbala Semiu, 2023 House of Assembly Candidate, Ifo Constituency II;
  • Hon. Fatai Adenaya Modawoni, 2023 Ogun Waterside House of Assembly Candidate;
  • Mr. Agboola Isaac Olakunle, Marketing Representative of Bullion Records;
  • Mr. Ibrahim Taofeek Kegbegbe, Head of Media and Publicity, Bullion Records.

Ambassador Ajadi received the honour alongside other distinguished Nigerians, including Chief Ademola Babalola, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Oyo State Council.

Speaking further on the significance of fatherhood, Ajadi emphasized the crucial role of fathers in shaping the moral and spiritual foundation of their children.

“A responsible father is one who not only provides for his family but also leads them in the way of the Lord,” he stated. “We must teach our children the true God to serve and guide them with intentionality until they are mature enough to make godly decisions.”

Ajadi praised the church leadership and the Men’s Missionary Union for honouring fathers and reminding them of their divine responsibility.

“It’s heartwarming to see fathers being celebrated. This kind of recognition serves as a reminder of our spiritual, emotional, and moral responsibilities to our families,” he concluded.
