A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has commended Governor Seyi Makinde for approving a ₦10,000 monthly transportation support allowance for civil servants in the state.
Governor Makinde had announced the initiative on Monday during the supervision of the YEAP-SAFER support disbursement and stakeholder engagement programme held at the Fashola Agribusiness Hub in Oyo town.
According to the governor, the allowance is designed to cushion the impact of rising petroleum product prices and will be implemented initially for a period of three months.
Reacting in a statement personally signed on Tuesday, Ajadi described the governor’s decision as timely and people-oriented, noting that it reflects a genuine commitment to the welfare of workers amid current economic challenges.
He stated that the measure underscores Makinde’s sensitivity to the plight of civil servants and the general public, particularly in the face of increasing transportation costs.
Ajadi further pledged to sustain and expand such worker-friendly policies if elected governor in 2027, assuring that the welfare of civil servants would remain a top priority under his administration.
“I commend His Excellency, Engr. Seyi Makinde, for approving the ₦10,000 transportation support allowance for civil servants to cushion the harsh effects of rising fuel prices,” Ajadi said.
“This action clearly demonstrates that the governor is a friend of the workers and the masses, and that he genuinely cares about their welfare.”
“By the grace of God, when I become governor in 2027 under Omituntun 3.0, I will prioritise the welfare of civil servants and build on the laudable achievements of our leader, Governor Seyi Makinde,” he added.
