The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State on Tuesday formally concluded the 2026 Batch B Stream I Orientation Course, with the State Coordinator, Mr. Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, urging corps members to uphold integrity, discipline and professionalism as they proceed to their various Places of Primary Assignment (PPAs).
The closing ceremony, held at the Parade Ground of the NYSC Permanent Orientation Camp in Ede, was attended by the Camp Director, Camp Commandant, Assistant Directors, heads of collaborating agencies, camp officials and corps members.
Declaring the orientation course closed on behalf of the Director-General of the NYSC, Kubiangha congratulated the corps members on the successful completion of the three-week exercise and commended them for their exemplary conduct, resilience and active participation throughout the programme.
He expressed confidence that the corps members would remain worthy ambassadors of the Scheme during their service year, urging them to sustain the values of honesty, discipline and dedication in their respective places of primary assignment.
The State Coordinator reminded the corps members that the image and reputation of the NYSC depend largely on their conduct, warning them against absenting themselves from their places of assignment without obtaining the approval of the State Coordinator.
Speaking on the forthcoming August elections, Kubiangha advised corps members who may be engaged as ad hoc personnel by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to discharge their responsibilities with neutrality, honesty and professionalism, in support of free, fair and credible elections.
He also wished corps members posted to Lagos State a safe journey as they departed for their respective places of assignment.
One of the major highlights of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to outstanding NYSC and non-NYSC personnel whose dedication and selfless service contributed significantly to the success of the orientation exercise.
Among the non-NYSC award recipients were the driver of the NHIA ambulance from the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospitals Complex (OAUTHC), the Head Cook of the camp kitchen and a Fan Milk marketer who has consistently supported orientation programmes through the sponsorship of football competitions.
In the NYSC category, Mrs. Bola Abioye of the Procurement Committee, Mr. Gbenga Oke of the Sanitation Committee and Mr. Olunloyo Ayoola of the Camp Clinic Committee were honoured for their exceptional commitment, diligence and outstanding performance during the orientation course.
The ceremony ended with the formal declaration of the orientation course closed, followed by the rendition of the NYSC Anthem and a ceremonial march past by corps members, marking the commencement of the second phase of their national service.
