The Osun State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Mr. Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, has urged members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II to build on the knowledge, skills and experiences acquired during their year of national service as they embark on the next chapter of their lives.
Kubiangha gave the charge on Thursday while addressing corps members across the state during the low-key Passing-Out Parade (POP) held simultaneously across the 30 Local Government Areas and the Area Office.
Congratulating the corps members on the successful completion of their mandatory national service, the State Coordinator expressed gratitude to God for His protection and guidance throughout the service year.
He particularly urged the outgoing corps members to maximise the entrepreneurial knowledge and skills acquired through the NYSC Skill Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development (SAED) programme, noting that self-reliance and enterprise development have become increasingly important in responding to the realities of the Nigerian economy.
Kubiangha reminded them that the completion of their service year should not be viewed as an end in itself, but as the beginning of new opportunities, greater responsibilities and a broader obligation to contribute meaningfully to society.
He charged them to remain disciplined, responsible and committed to excellence, urging them to deploy the values and experiences acquired during the service year to their personal development, professional careers and service to humanity.
As part of activities marking the Passing-Out Parade, Kubiangha embarked on a monitoring exercise to Boripe and Ifelodun Local Government Areas in the Ikirun Zone, in continuation of his inclusive approach to NYSC administration across the state.
Addressing corps members in Boripe Local Government Area, he reiterated the importance of sustaining the positive values acquired during the service year and challenged them to translate their experiences, particularly the skills gained through SAED, into viable opportunities for personal and professional advancement.
At Ifelodun Local Government Area, the State Coordinator further encouraged the outgoing corps members to maintain a strong spiritual foundation and live purposeful lives, reminding them of the transient nature of human existence and the importance of leaving positive and lasting footprints in society.
The corps members responded with songs of thanksgiving and expressions of gratitude for the successful completion of their service year.
The monitoring exercise also included an inspection of the corps members’ lodge in Ifelodun Local Government Area, where Kubiangha assessed their living conditions and interacted with them on issues concerning their welfare, safety and general well-being.
The State Coordinator was accompanied by a representative of the NYSC Directorate Headquarters Monitoring Team, Mr. Oluwakayode Osinubi, as well as principal officers of the NYSC Osun State Secretariat.
Giving an overview of the Passing-Out Parade, the NYSC disclosed that 1,969 corps members participated in the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream II POP across the 30 Local Government Areas and the Area Office in Osun State.
However, 31 corps members absconded from service, while 27 others had their service extended for various infractions in accordance with NYSC regulations.
The Passing-Out Parade marked the successful completion of another cycle of national service, with the NYSC urging the outgoing corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the Scheme and continue to uphold the ideals of patriotism, discipline, selfless service and national unity wherever their future pursuits take them.
