Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC-Oyo South) has extended heartfelt congratulations to Muslims across Nigeria as they celebrate this year’s Eid-el-Maulud, marking the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW). In his message, the lawmaker called for a renewed commitment to the virtues of peace, love, and tolerance as exemplified by the Prophet throughout his life.
The statement, issued by his Special Adviser on Media, Akeem Abas, and made available to the press in Ibadan on Sunday, emphasized the importance of reflecting on the Prophet’s teachings and their relevance in today’s increasingly complex world.
Senator Alli highlighted that Prophet Muhammad’s (SAW) life serves as a timeless model for humanity, transcending religious and cultural divides. He urged Muslims to draw from the Prophet’s example and apply the principles of justice, compassion, and mutual respect in their daily lives.
“As we celebrate Eid-el-Maulud, let us recommit to the ideals of peace and harmony. The Prophet’s life is a beacon for unity, and now more than ever, we must embrace these values to foster national cohesion,” Alli said.
He noted that Nigeria, with its diverse ethnic, religious, and political landscape, stands to gain greatly if all citizens commit to living by the virtues of peace and understanding as taught by the Prophet. The Senator appealed for unity among Nigerians, stressing that divisions along religious, ethnic, or political lines would only hinder the nation’s progress.
“The celebration of the Prophet’s birth is an opportunity for us all to reflect on the importance of national unity and strive to heal any divides. Our collective strength lies in our ability to live together in peace,” he added.
Senator Alli also congratulated the Muslim community in Oyo South and across Nigeria for successfully observing the Maulud celebration. He prayed for continued blessings, protection, and guidance for all Nigerians, urging them to remain steadfast in their faith.
Reiterating his commitment to the welfare of his constituents, Senator Alli pledged to continue advocating for the socio-economic development of Oyo South and Nigeria as a whole. He called on citizens to cooperate with and pray for the country’s leaders, so they may govern with wisdom and justice.
“Let us all work together for a peaceful and prosperous Nigeria, and may the blessings of this Eid-el-Maulud inspire us toward greater unity,” he concluded.
