Nigeria @ 65: Senator Alli Calls for Unity, Patriotism, Renewed Hope

As Nigeria marked its 65th Independence anniversary, Senator Sharafadeen Alli (APC–Oyo South) has urged citizens to remain hopeful, patriotic, and united in their collective quest for a stronger and more prosperous nation.

In a goodwill message delivered in Ibadan on Wednesday, Alli described Independence Day as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices, resilience, and determination that have kept Nigeria together for more than six decades.

“October 1 is not just a date in history but a call to duty,” the lawmaker said. “We must recommit ourselves to building a prosperous, inclusive, and just society where every citizen can thrive, regardless of status, religion or background. That is the true meaning of independence.”

Senator Alli praised President Bola Tinubu’s administration for taking what he called courageous and strategic steps to stabilise the economy and restore public confidence.

“The President has taken bold steps to reposition the economy and strengthen our national institutions. His determination signals a new dawn of hope for all Nigerians,” Alli noted.

He appealed to citizens to continue supporting the administration, stressing that national reforms require patience, resilience, and unity to yield lasting results.

“Things are gradually improving, and with unity and perseverance, we will witness remarkable progress. Nigerians must sincerely support the ongoing reforms to ensure their success,” he added.

The senator also used the occasion to pray for peace, prosperity, and progress across the country. He called on Nigerians to embrace love, tolerance, and patriotism as guiding values for nation-building.

“Togetherness is vital if we are to fulfil our divine destiny among nations,” Alli declared. “Nigeria’s future is bright, and with faith and determination, we shall get there.”
