Oyo 2027: Continuity Non-Negotiable, Says Ajadi, Promises People-Centred Governance

A leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has declared that the continuity of the current administration led by Seyi Makinde remains non-negotiable, pledging to prioritise the welfare of citizens if elected in 2027.

Ajadi made this known during a media parley with PDP social media influencers held at Omi-Tuntun House, Iwo Road, Ibadan, on Thursday. He emphasised that his political ambition is driven by a desire to improve the living conditions of the masses, particularly the underprivileged.

According to him, sustaining the achievements of the Makinde administration is crucial to the continued growth and stability of Oyo State. He argued that consistent governance under one political party has proven effective in several states since the return to democratic rule in 1999.

“What we stand for is clear—people first. The welfare of the citizens and residents of Oyo State will remain the top priority in all our policies and programmes, just as our leader, Governor Seyi Makinde, is currently doing,” Ajadi said.

He described Governor Makinde as a visionary leader who understands that infrastructural development and human capital investment are essential pillars of economic growth. He noted that the administration’s strides in road construction, workers’ welfare, free education, and bursary support for indigent students must be preserved and strengthened.

“We will ensure that the son of nobody becomes somebody in Oyo State. Governance under our watch will be inclusive, and every citizen will count,” he added, expressing confidence in his capacity to build on existing achievements.

Ajadi also assured party members of continued relevance and support beyond the 2027 elections, stressing that the PDP remains a platform committed to the collective progress of its members and the wider society.

“Let me assure all members of our great party that their welfare will not be neglected. They will remain integral to the governance process beyond 2027,” he said.

Highlighting his experience as a businessman employing over 1,200 staff across his private enterprises, Ajadi pledged to create opportunities for youth engagement and economic empowerment. He emphasised the need to productively channel the energy of young people toward development.

In addition, he proposed stronger legislative backing for education, including making primary education compulsory to ensure that every child has access to basic learning.

“Our administration will encourage parents to send their children to school and work with the House of Assembly to enact laws that guarantee compulsory education at the foundational level,” he stated.

Ajadi concluded by reiterating his commitment to a governance model anchored on continuity, inclusiveness, and sustainable development, positioning himself as a candidate ready to consolidate and expand the gains of the current administration.
