A governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Oyo State, Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has congratulated the party on the inauguration of its newly constituted National Caretaker Committee, urging members to consolidate unity and work towards victory in the 2027 general elections.
The PDP’s National Executive Committee (NEC), at its 103rd meeting held in Abuja, approved a 13-member caretaker committee to steer the affairs of the party. The committee is chaired by Tanimu Turaki (SAN), with Taofeek Arapaja serving as Secretary.
The decision, which followed deliberations involving key party organs including the Board of Trustees and was supported by Seyi Makinde, is seen as part of efforts to stabilise and reposition the party ahead of future elections.
In a statement released shortly after the announcement, Ajadi described the composition of the committee as a blend of experience, integrity, and leadership capacity, expressing confidence in its ability to reposition the PDP.
“I congratulate our great party on the successful inauguration of the National Caretaker Committee. The individuals entrusted with this responsibility are men of proven character and experience,” he said.
Ajadi specifically commended the chairman, Tanimu Turaki, and the secretary, Taofeek Arapaja, whom he described as a respected leader within the party, urging them to strengthen internal cohesion and build on the renewed unity within the PDP.
He noted that the committee assumes office at a critical period in the party’s history, stressing that there is no room for complacency as preparations intensify for the 2027 elections.
“The task before the committee is enormous. This is a defining moment for our party, and all hands must be on deck to ensure we return to winning ways,” Ajadi stated.
He further called on party members and supporters across the country to remain steadfast, expressing optimism that the PDP would reclaim its dominant position in Nigeria’s political landscape.
According to him, Nigerians are looking up to the PDP as a credible alternative capable of addressing the nation’s current challenges, adding that unity and strategic coordination would be key to achieving electoral success.
Ajadi concluded by reaffirming his belief in the resilience of the PDP, describing it as a strong institution capable of overcoming challenges and emerging victorious in 2027.
