A prominent businessman and brawny politician based in Ibadan, Oyo State, Chief Rotimi Ajanaku has described the exit of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi lll, the Alaafin of Oyo as a passage of a great Custodian and promoter of Culture, Heritage and History of Yorubaland.
Reacting to the death of Oba Adeyemi on Saturday, Ajanaku said no one expected such terrible and odd news at this very time when quite a number of hurdles are staring Yorubas in the face, most especially decadence of Yoruba’s values among the youths and deteriorating state of security in Nigeria.
He said, “I couldn’t believe my eyes when I came across the news on social media in the early hours of Saturday, I was shocked and became very weak immediately and it was so difficult to come to reality with the news. It’s so sudden because he spoke with me last week. We discussed at length on various issues affecting yoruba race and he made some few suggestions as a way forward, which he personally promised to champion.
“Late Oba Adeyemi was an outstanding royal father who cherished, valued and promoted Yoruba history, culture and ethics, replacing such an outstanding, brilliant traditional icon will be very difficult. However, to every human being, death is inevitable, Oba Adeyemi really lived a fulfilled life. We have lost an oracle and a royal father of inestimable value. Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi lll, carved his name on the hearts of many,
‘I commiserate with the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, the family of late Oba Adeyemi lll, the Oyo Mesi, good people of Oyo Town, residents of Oyo State and the entire Oduduwa land on the death of an irreplaceable, highly cerebral traditional ruler.
“I pray God Almighty grant Oba Adeyemi lll eternal rest and stand for the family he left behind in their days of adversities and also grant them fortitude to bear their great loss. I also ask God to lead and guide the King makers as they begin arrangement to select, nominate and recommend Oba Adeyemi’s successor to the state governor,” Ajanaku prayed.
