Oyo 2027: Ibarapa APC Throws Weight Behind Senator Alli’s Governorship Bid

Leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Ibarapa zone of Oyo State have unanimously endorsed Senator (Dr.) Sharafadeen Alli as their preferred governorship candidate for the 2027 general election, citing his leadership credentials, grassroots appeal and proven track record in public service.

The endorsement was announced during a well-attended stakeholders’ meeting convened to receive the senator on a consultative visit to the zone. The meeting, presided over by Ibarapa APC leader, Chief Alarape Jolaoso, brought together party elders, chieftains and grassroots mobilisers from across the three local government areas.

Speaking on behalf of the stakeholders, Chief Jolaoso said the decision to back Senator Alli followed extensive consultations within Ibarapa, stressing that the zone remains united in its resolve to support a credible and experienced candidate capable of leading the APC to victory in 2027.

“Senator Alli has distinguished himself through service, accessibility and commitment to the people. His deep-rooted connection with the grassroots and his capacity to unite diverse interests make him the right choice for the task ahead,” Jolaoso stated.

Party leaders at the meeting described the senator as a bridge-builder and loyal party stalwart who has consistently contributed to strengthening the APC structure across Oyo State. They noted that the endorsement reflects a growing consensus around his candidacy, as various political blocs and interest groups continue to align with his vision for a more inclusive and prosperous state.

In his response, Senator Alli expressed appreciation for the overwhelming support, assuring the leaders and people of Ibarapa that their confidence in him would be justified.

“I am deeply grateful for this show of trust. I remain committed to building an inclusive administration that will prioritise development across all zones of Oyo State, ensuring that no community is left behind,” he said.

The senator reiterated his commitment to sustained consultation with party stakeholders and the electorate, emphasising that collective engagement would be central to achieving a shared vision for the state.

The endorsement is widely seen as a significant boost to Senator Alli’s governorship aspiration, further consolidating his standing within the APC as a potential consensus candidate ahead of the 2027 elections.

Notable leaders present at the meeting included Chief Alarape Jolaoso, Apostle Zacheus Aderounmu, Chief Dayo Adeola, Chief T.A.A. Adenrele, Chief Francis Babalola, and Alhaji Olayide Abas. Also in attendance were the three local government party chairmen, women leaders, youth leaders and executive members from across the Ibarapa zone.
