NYSC Osun Passes Out 1,702 Corps Members, 18 Abscond, 11 Get Service Extension

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Osun State has officially passed out 1,702 members of the 2025 Batch ‘B’ Stream I, with the State Coordinator, Mr. Ekeng Ita Kubiangha, urging the outgoing corps members to uphold integrity, patriotism and excellence as they begin a new phase of their lives.

Kubiangha gave the charge on Thursday while leading members of the State Management Team and the National Directorate Headquarters (NDHQ) Monitoring Officer, Mr. Peter Okpanachi, on an inspection tour of Obokun, Ilesa East and Ilesa West Local Government Areas to monitor the low-key Passing-Out Ceremony.

The passing-out exercise was conducted simultaneously across the 30 local government areas and the Area Office in Osun State, marking the successful completion of the mandatory one-year national service by the corps members.

Addressing the outgoing corps members during the monitoring exercise, the State Coordinator congratulated them on completing their service year, describing the occasion as a major milestone and a testament to God’s faithfulness and protection throughout the period of service.

He urged them to remain grateful to God and embrace the future with determination, integrity, resilience and a commitment to excellence, stressing that the Certificate of National Service should serve as a springboard for greater achievements rather than an end in itself.

According to Kubiangha, success in life depends on hard work, innovation, discipline and perseverance, qualities he said the corps members must continue to demonstrate as they pursue their careers and personal aspirations.

He also charged the outgoing corps members to remain worthy ambassadors of the NYSC by upholding the ideals of patriotism, honesty, selfless service and good character wherever they find themselves, while encouraging them to be law-abiding citizens committed to national development and community service.

During the ceremony, eligible corps members received their Certificates of National Service, while outstanding Corps Liaison Officers were presented with Certificates of Commendation in recognition of their exemplary leadership and meritorious service during the service year.

The State Coordinator offered prayers for the departing corps members, expressing confidence that they would excel in their chosen careers and make meaningful contributions to society.

Giving an overview of the service year, Kubiangha disclosed that 1,702 corps members successfully completed the national service and qualified for the award of the Certificate of National Service.

He, however, revealed that 18 corps members absconded from service, while 11 others had their service extended for various infractions in line with the provisions of the NYSC Bye-Laws.

The monitoring exercise, which also involved the National Directorate Headquarters Monitoring Officer, underscored the Scheme’s commitment to preserving the credibility, transparency and integrity of the passing-out process through strict compliance with established operational guidelines.
