Ajadi Launches Statewide JAMB Scholarship Scheme to Support 10,000 Indigent Students in Oyo

In a major boost to educational development in Oyo State, a leading governorship aspirant of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ambassador Olufemi Ajadi Oguntoyinbo, has unveiled a comprehensive scholarship initiative aimed at empowering over 10,000 indigent students through free Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) forms and coaching.

The initiative, which will cut across all the 33 local government areas of the state, is designed to provide free JAMB registration and intensive preparatory classes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, as part of Ajadi’s broader commitment to human capital development.

According to Ajadi, a minimum of 300 students will benefit from the programme in each local government, bringing the total beneficiaries to no fewer than 10,000 candidates in the 2026 admission cycle. He explained that the scheme is open to all indigenes and residents of Oyo State, irrespective of political affiliation, with the primary goal of strengthening access to quality education.

The PDP governorship hopeful stated that interested applicants must possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN) and Senior Secondary School Certificate (GCE/SSCE) to qualify. He added that registration and screening will take place at PDP local government secretariats across the state from Monday, January 19 to February 28, 2026.

Ajadi emphasized that the selection process will be transparent and strictly on a first-come, first-served basis, without bias or favoritism.

Describing education as the cornerstone of sustainable development, Ajadi said the initiative reflects his long-standing belief that no society can grow beyond the quality of its educated population.

“Education remains the bedrock of national growth and societal progress. This is my own modest contribution towards easing the burden on parents and giving our youths a fair chance to pursue their academic dreams,” he said.

A renowned philanthropist, Ajadi noted that the JAMB scholarship scheme is part of a series of educational interventions he has supported over the years, including similar programmes previously implemented in Ogun State.

He reiterated his passion for supporting vulnerable groups through empowerment initiatives, particularly in the areas of education, youth development, and skills acquisition.

“I am committed to building a solid foundation for our youths by making education accessible and attractive through financial grants, technological support, and the provision of essential educational resources,” Ajadi stated.

He further revealed that the initiative has already received positive feedback from parents and guardians, many of whom have expressed relief at the opportunity, especially in view of the prevailing economic challenges in the country.

Ajadi assured that he would continue to champion policies and programmes that place education and youth empowerment at the centre of Oyo State’s development agenda.
